Time for Indie Authors to Step Up (Updated)
As indie authors, we make all the choices. This means its time for us to innovate, if we want to continue to be true indie authors.
With that in mind, consider the following:
Does anyone really care about this, anymore? Ha ha ha ...
Easy question. Control the money, honey!
Here's one reason why indie authors need to step up.
It's time to quit depending on the 900-pound gorilla.
Here are two successful Indiegogo writing projects: here and here.
I'm working on mine now. :)
What's missing from this article? Two major things: 1) there's almost no mention of publishing direct to B&N, Kobo or Amazon. In fact, it doesn't mention publishing ebooks through Amazon at all. Weird.
2) It doesn't mention setting up your own publishing imprint. Having your own publishing imprint is essential, if you're going to be a true indie author.
PS: Start building your brand -- now! :)
UPDATE: For aspiring screenwriters:
Indian Summer Screenwriting Colony.
WIFV ScriptDC registration.
Scriptapalooza has a TV script writing competition. Here's the application form.
Entering a script could pay off. It has for me. So far. :)
